Cast iron joint repair is a major part of a gas utility's maintenance budget. Sealing joints with PLCS Anaerobic Sealant offers a perfect solution where there is a need to rapidly reduce the number of leaks at low cost. PLCS Anaerobic Sealant is directly injected into the leaking joint, where it fills the voids and wicks around the joint interior. The absence of oxygen and the presence of metal particles cause it to cure to form a gas tight seal. PLCS Anaerobic Sealant is usually injected by an operator standing in a conventional backhoe dug excavation, or the entire process can be carried out from the road surface using long handled tools in a vacuum excavated (approx. 18" square) small hole.
